In Vitro Bio-Availability Study

Extended bio-availability studies on the Hyaluronic Acid of HYALURMED were conducted in physiologic conditions by using dialysis tubing (DT) procedure and quantitative determination of HA by spectrophotometric method.
Outcome: High levels of bio-availability of HA during gastric abd intestinal transit.

IN VITRO NITRIC OXIDE RADICAL (NO∙) SCAVENGING ASSAY
In Vitro, Different MW (XLW, MW, HW)

Outcome: Increased levels of anti-inflammatory activity of Hyaluronic Acid before (intrinsic) and after (activated) gastro-intestinal absorption in physiologic conditions by in vitro nitric oxide radical (NO∙) scavenging assay.
Best Performance:
Intrinsic: all MW are comparable
After digestion: MW > HW > XLW

In Vivo Trial - Antioxidant
Hyaluronic Acid XLW: 120 mg/day
- Patients: 102 Individuals (double blind with placebo)
- Test group: 18M & 33W
- Control group: 19M & 32W
- Statistical significance: P<0,05
- Period: 3 months
- Outcomes: Blood levels of SOD, GSH-Px, MDA
- Side-effects: No Side-effects were observed
- Normal ranges in blood routine, urine routine, stool routine, biochemical assay, electrocardiogram, abdominal ultrasound and chest X-Ray
Results of antioxidant properties:The principal parameters of oxidative stress are malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase (CAT): in particular MDA is the end-product of oxidation reactions of polyunsaturated fatty acids mediated by free radicals (ROS) and it excreted in blood & urine, thus being a marker of lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress. SOD and CAT are anti-oxidant enzymes working on a cascade model with GPX (glutathione peroxidase) which in turn reduce the superoxide radical •O2 to H2O2 and then to H2O respectively. To resume, a good antioxidant product needs to reduce MDA and to improve SOD and CAT activity, as HYALURMED does!

Result of moisturizing trial: the Hyaluronic Acid molecule has shown to regulate, stabilize and induce the internal hydration levels and provide extra prevention on the epidermis cells. Additionally it improves the intracellular communication and contributes into new collagen fibroblasts.
